Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Türkiye Sukjong Boo Visits NEVU Rector Aktekin
Sukjong Boo, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Türkiye, visited Prof. Dr. Semih Aktekin, Rector of Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University (NEVU). Ambassador Boo was at the University to attend the “7th International Korean War History Teachers Conference” and its gala programme, organised in cooperation with NEVU, the Korean War Legacy Foundation and Anadolu University.
Expressing his pleasure at hosting Ambassador Sukjong Boo at the University, Rector Prof. Dr. Semih Aktekin provided information on NEVU’s activities in education, scientific research, internationalisation, culture, arts and social contribution. Aktekin stated that NEVU, designated by the Council of Higher Education (CoHE) as a specialised university in the field of “Natural and Cultural Heritage Tourism”, carries out studies aimed at preserving and researching Cappadocia’s natural and cultural assets and passing them on to future generations. He added that partnerships developed with national and international institutions and universities make significant contributions to NEVU’s internationalisation vision.
Noting that the Korean War is one of the key foundations of the historic friendship between Türkiye and the Republic of Korea, Aktekin emphasised the importance of passing this shared historical legacy on to future generations through education and academic studies. He also stated that the conference held at NEVU represented a meaningful gathering in this regard.
Ambassador Boo: Academic Cooperation Strengthens Our Bonds of Friendship
Expressing his pleasure at being at NEVU, Ambassador Sukjong Boo stated that the work and projects carried out by Rector Aktekin and the University administration—both in education and in preserving, researching and passing the region’s historical and natural assets on to future generations—are of great importance.
Ambassador Boo emphasised the significance of NEVU hosting an international conference focusing on the historical legacy of the Korean War. He stated that strengthening the historic bonds of friendship and brotherhood between Türkiye and the Republic of Korea through cooperation in education, science and culture is highly important.
Noting that universities serve as vital bridges in developing relations between countries and societies, Ambassador Boo expressed his appreciation for NEVU’s commitment to international cooperation. He added that the conference would contribute to Türkiye–Korea relations from both academic and cultural perspectives.
