NEVU and Romania’s National University of Physical Education and Sports Sign Erasmus+ Cooperation Agreement
Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University (NEVU) and Romania’s National University of Physical Education and Sports (UNEFS) signed an Erasmus+ bilateral cooperation agreement aimed at promoting student and academic staff mobility and fostering joint scientific research and international projects.
NEVU Rector Prof. Dr. Semih Aktekin and Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences Prof. Dr. Selçuk Akpınar visited UNEFS in Bucharest, Romania, where they held a series of meetings to strengthen academic, scientific, and institutional cooperation between the two universities.
During the meetings, attended by UNEFS Rector Prof. Dr. Monica Stănescu, the deans of the relevant faculties, and the International Relations Coordinator, the parties discussed the universities’ educational activities, scientific research, and internationalisation initiatives. They also explored opportunities for student and academic staff mobility, joint research, international projects, academic events, and activities to be conducted under the Erasmus+ programme.
Rector Aktekin Presents NEVU’s Academic and Scientific Activities
During the meetings, NEVU Rector Prof. Dr. Semih Aktekin provided information on Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University’s academic structure, educational activities, scientific research capacity, and internationalisation objectives.
Emphasising NEVU’s commitment to increasing student and academic staff mobility with higher education institutions in different countries, developing joint projects, and strengthening scientific cooperation, Rector Aktekin also outlined the University’s educational, research, and practical activities, particularly in the field of sports sciences.
Aktekin stated that the cooperation established with UNEFS would enable the two universities to share their academic expertise, conduct joint scientific studies and projects, organise academic events, and expand international mobility opportunities.
NEVU and UNEFS Sign Erasmus+ Agreement
Following the meetings, NEVU and UNEFS signed a bilateral cooperation agreement under the Erasmus+ programme.
The agreement aims to increase student and academic staff mobility between the two universities, develop joint scientific research and projects—particularly in sports sciences—organise academic events, and strengthen international cooperation across various disciplines.
UNEFS’s Academic and Practical Infrastructure Examined
As part of the visit, the NEVU delegation toured the UNEFS campus, faculties, and research and practice laboratories. The delegation was briefed on the University’s educational activities, academic structure, scientific research, and sports infrastructure.
The delegation examined UNEFS’s practical training and research facilities. The University offers programmes in kinesitherapy, physical education, and sports across six departments within an interdisciplinary academic structure. The parties also discussed opportunities to make reciprocal use of their academic infrastructure and conduct joint studies in sports sciences.
The programme included visits to facilities integrating sports sciences with technology. NEVU Rector Prof. Dr. Semih Aktekin tested the simulators in the air-pistol shooting range and received information from UNEFS officials about the exercises performed and the technological systems used.
The NEVU delegation also visited virtual cycling and running laboratories equipped with advanced technologies for measuring, assessing, and improving physical performance. During the laboratory visits, the parties exchanged information and views on assessing athlete performance, supporting training processes with technological systems, and incorporating virtual applications into sports sciences education.
Message of Cooperation Recorded in UNEFS’s Commemorative Book
At the conclusion of the visit, NEVU Rector Prof. Dr. Semih Aktekin and Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences Prof. Dr. Selçuk Akpınar wrote messages in the National University of Physical Education and Sports’ commemorative book, marking the occasion and expressing their aspirations for the future of friendship and cooperation between the two institutions.
The visit and the Erasmus+ agreement are expected to make a significant contribution to strengthening NEVU’s relations with long-established European academic institutions in line with its internationalisation objectives, establishing new research and project partnerships in sports sciences, enhancing the exchange of knowledge and experience, and expanding Erasmus+ mobility opportunities.
